Client improvements

The following improvements have been made to the Meridian Enterprise client applications:

Meridian Power provides a new Reference Explorer similar to the PowerUser for viewing and navigating assemblies.

Meridian Power now supports a new Tags property page that can be used to link tags to other tags.

MRE-4222

The Meridian PowerUser 32-bit and 64-bit client applications are being deprecated but are still included in the client installation packages in this release. Continued use requires new deprecated feature (product codes that begin with M--DPC) licenses. We strongly recommend that all customers migrate their users to Meridian Power. For more information, see Features to be deprecated in future releases.

Meridian Power now supports the Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Microsoft Edge web browsers. For the specific versions supported, see the BlueCielo Meridian Enterprise Supported Software document for this Meridian Enterprise release.

MRE-5449		 A new Meridian Power user profile setting AddRoleAssignmentsInDialog has been added that, when set to 1 in the profile file on the web server of a user, will show an alternative dialog for assigning roles to a folder. This dialog is more convenient in environments that have thousands of user accounts in the Meridian Enterprise Server user database and it allows the user to filter the list of groups and users before selecting names to assign to a role. The performance of loading thousands of user names in the standard workflow and role assignment dialog boxes has also been improved.

MRE-4531 In Meridian Power, the current site cache server can be selected from among any of the servers registered on the Meridian Enterprise Server computer. This allows the user to select the closest site cache server for their current geographical location, with a mobile PC, for example.
MRE-4645 In Meridian Power, simple forms now set the user focus to the input field of the form, for example, when creating a folder, renaming a folder or document, modifying a revision number, and entering comments. Previously, the user had to click in the input field first.

Provides basic integration of Meridian project folders with the project repository feature in Meridian Portal. This supports collaboration between users internal to the organization and external users.

The workflow is:

  1. Meridian users link folders to Meridian Portal project repositories (Link to Portal command).
  2. Meridian users select and send documents to Meridian Portal (Send to Portal command).
  3. Meridian Portal users edit, review, and approve documents in the repositories.
  4. Approved documents can be imported back into the Meridian folders by a background task for release as master document revisions.

The integration is designed to be simple and require minimal configuration (including property mapping) but allow more extensive integration with existing workflow processes when needed. In this release, no privileges are implemented to avoid requiring a vault upgrade and will be added in a future release.
MRE-4652 Existing Meridian project folders may now be linked to existing Meridian Portal projects.

MRE-4688

In Meridian Power, the selected item is now highlighted in the navigation view for better recognition.
MRE-4789 The default file extension for CSV reports is now .csv so that the report can be immediately opened in Microsoft Excel and the file extension does not need to be changed.
MRE-4790 Meridian Power now works similar to PowerUser when a document is double-clicked. If the document is not already under change by the user, they are prompted to start a workflow.
MRE-4828 A new option Save credentials has been added to the site cache client connection settings. If enabled, the user’s credentials are stored encrypted in the registry of the PC and reused to connect for the next browser session.
MRE-4846 A new web server registry value Domain has been added that, when set to a valid domain name, is used as the host domain to load external property pages in the client applications.
MRE-4866 Renditions may now be opened in the Windows registered application by the new Open Rendition command.
MRE-4872 A new web server registry value QuickFindMultiWordAll has been added that can be set to make Quick Find searches in Meridian Power behave like PowerUser, matching all of the entered keywords instead of any of the entered keywords.

MRE-4966

Meridian Power and Meridian Explorer each show a new Meridian Wishlist item on the user’s menu that can be clicked to submit product improvement suggestions directly to BlueCielo. The item can be hidden by a new web server registry value AhaPortal described in the BlueCielo Meridian Enterprise Administrator's Guide and the BlueCielo Meridian Enterprise Server Administrator's Guide, respectively.

MRE-5056

Meridian Power now supports references in custom commands.
MRE-5064 The All vaults and Selected vaults options have been removed from the Find dialog in Meridian Power to prevent incompatibility with other new features.

MRE-5085

Meridian Power now shows a progress bar when it synchronizes the vault in Remote mode.
MRE-5098 An animated icon and dynamic status text are now shown in the lower left corner of property pages and wizard pages while property values are sent to the server or recalculated. This is to provide feedback to users on slow systems that the system is actively working and is not hung.

In Meridian Power user preferences, the Document Transfer Options button is now disabled if Site cache mode is enabled.

MRE-5232

In Meridian Power, the ribbon menu is now always enabled by default. If disabled, the following commands and actions are unavailable:

  • Opening documents by double-clicking or pressing Enter
  • Assembly Structure, Where Used, and Derivatives
  • Invoking the Start Quick Change, Release Quick Change, Revoke Quick Change, Upload, Download, Set Property Value, and custom commands on navigation view nodes. These commands are not supported by the shortcut menu.
MRE-5271 In Meridian Power, the Unlock Document and Unlock Another User’s Document commands now unlock the documents from export packages as well as from briefcases if the user has the Unlock from Briefcase privilege.
MRE-5292 Meridian Power now supports the Derive and Replace commands when performed on batches without the ActiveX control installed on the PC.

MRE-5300

An issue has been fixed that caused Meridian Power to stop responding when a memo property was edited that contained a large amount of data. The editing session continues now but the user will be shown an Invalid arguments error and their changes in some properties may not be saved correctly. This is because Meridian Power is limited to sending a total of 24 KB of data to the server when properties are edited. This limit can be exceeded if the document type includes a large number of text properties or one or more memo properties that contain a lot of data. This limit may be raised or removed in a future release.
